Aim:
To develop an understanding on the Safeguarding of Adults.
Objectives:
- To Identify Abuse and recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse.
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of staff and organisations working together to protect vulnerable adults from abuse.
- Identify and understand the whistleblowing procedure.
- Legislations
- Highlight actions and responsibilities (knowing what to do and what not to do).
- Understand the safeguarding process including the safeguarding principles.
At the end of the training session, candidates will have covered the following modules:
- Underpinning Values
- The Care Act 2014 and Safeguarding
- CQC fundamental standards
- Definition of Abuse
- Categories of Abuse, signs and symptoms
- Risk factors and what makes a person more vulnerable and at risk of abuse.
- Contributing factors to abuse
- Acts of omission
- Duty of Candour
- Purpose of the Safeguarding system
- 6 keys safeguarding principles
- Staff Duties and action to take
- Whistleblowing
- Do’s and Don’ts
- Recording & Reporting
- Mental Capacity Act 2005 and relevant legislation; DoLS, Equality Act 2010, Human Rights Act 1998, Safeguarding of Vulnerable groups Act 2006, Data Protection Act with GDPR 2018
